Drew Smith
Drew was born and raised in Idaho Falls, ID and at an early age felt a love and admiration for the local landscapes.
The Snake River, The Tetons and Yellowstone, and some of the local wetlands became magical destinations which drew him back frequently. He began painting at a very young age where he spent countless hours painting on the kitchen table.
His mother was always good for a sympathetic critique and lots of encouragement. He was a serious art student throughout his youth and learned much about various artists and their styles through books and magazine articles. He attended Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) and then Utah State University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Drew has been married to his best friend for 26 years and they have 4 wonderful children and a son-in-law.
Drew has participated in numerous shows and quick draws, namely at the CM Russell Show and the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival. He was highlighted as an “Artist to Watch” in Southwest Art Magazine and is showing his oil paintings in galleries in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
The artist hopes that his paintings will invoke within the viewer similar emotions and gratitude for the subject matter that he has felt while observing and painting nature and her many wonders.
