Barbara Jaenicke, OPA, AIS, PSA, IAPS-EP

Barbara Jaenicke’s artistic journey was launched in her early teens. Not realizing that a career in fine art could be a possibility, she steered her college studies toward Advertising, Graphic Design, and Marketing. She was an advertising art director in her first career, then a corporate marketing communications manager years later. In 2002, she was able to turn her focus to a fine art career, pursuing it full steam ahead.
Working in oil and pastel, Barbara strives to capture light-filled landscapes in an impressionist, painterly style. Although her finished work is painted primarily in the studio, a steady practice of painting outdoors enables her to create a genuine sense of light in her studio work.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Barbara also lived in Atlanta, Georgia for many years until she yearned for snow and mountains for her landscape subject matter, which prompted her family’s move to Bend, Oregon in 2015.
Her award highlights include numerous wins in national juried exhibitions such as Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, Pastel Society of America, International Associations of Pastel Societies, Plein Air Magazine’s Plein Air Salon, Modern Impressionist Magazine’s Salon, and Pastel Journal’s Pastel 100.
She has been featured in numerous art publications including Plein Air Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, Artists Magazine, Southwest Art, and Pastel Journal, and has served as a contributing writer for some of these publications.
Barbara is also a popular workshop instructor throughout the US, teaching workshops coast to coast each year. She also offers an array of instructional materials, including a book and videos. Learn more about Barbara at www.barbarajaenicke.com.
