Joan is a contemporary western artist working in oil. Her paintings are grounded in the spirit of the American West.
Joan draws inspiration from the wildlife, people and traditions that have shaped the West. While her primary goal remains to create paintings that are visually compelling and beautiful in their own right, conservation informs her choice of subjects. Joan hopes her work encourages a deeper appreciation for the animals and wild places that need our protection.
Her training has a foundation of traditional methods. She has studied at the University of Texas at Austin, the Art League of Houston, and the Konigs Schule in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Joan has exhibited and sold her work through galleries for more than 15 years, her paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. She divides her time between Houston, Texas, and Jackson, Wyoming.
