Kelly McNeil

Artist, Painter | Medium: Oil | Read Artist Bio

Artist Bio:

I believe that when an artist paints, we don’t paint what we see in front of us, we paint our feelings, which are created by what we are seeing.

I like to capture the life, the vitality and the warmth of my subjects, whether it’s a wolf sunning in the forest light, or a swan back-lit on lake casting abstract reflection for me to paint.

I really feel that I have succeeded when someone looks at one of my paintings and can’t help but smile.”

 Kelly McNeil

A.O.C.A

Winner of the 2009 City of Burnie Tas Art Exhibition Cruikshank Financial Award for Oil and Acrylic, and 2010 Brampton’s Art Person of the Year.

Kelly McNeil loves her craft. She lives to paint. Like most wildlife artists she loves the adventure of hunting for that perfect image or idea, inspired by something wild.

McNeil graduated in 1983 with her “Editorial Illustration Diploma”, and went back to Ontario College of Art and Design University and graduated in 2012, with her “Bachelor of Design”. McNeil is an International Artist showing her work from Canada to Tasmania, to the USA. She exhibits in many Wildlife Festivals and has 3 full-time American Galleries as well as her Canadian Galleries.

As well as her love for painting, McNeil adores her students and embarks on many adventures with them. She has started traveling and teaching, and has a full life as “one of Canada’s top emerging artists”.

‘Oakley’s First Swim’ was featured on Duck’s Unlimited’s 2014 Calendar.
