“I’ve had a great passion for art all of my life. As a young boy I scrawled and drew on any scrap piece of paper with any writing implement I could find. Art is a language and I have had excellent teachers throughout my life that helped me develop my talent and join the world of visual communication.
My intuitions have led me to paint landscapes. The element of high contrasts is a recurring theme in my work and many of my paintings appear dark and somber while providing rest, hope, peace and encouragement. As I look toward the future I welcome the journey with all its twists and turns.”
Born and raised in the hills of Southeastern Idaho, Stefan Bateman was inspired by nature’s beauty from the beginning. His passion for art began at a very young age and has remained with him throughout his lifetime.
Landscape paintings dominate his artwork, which Stefan feels has “become a vehicle for him to express the underlying nature of human experience as well as mood and emotion while expressing a metaphor for life. Just as a quiet stream meanders through a valley, life twists and turns through dark times and light.”
Once a wildlife painter, Bateman has branched out in style and substance over the past several years. In addition to his landscapes, several of Bateman’s figurative pieces are now on display.
